MEAR ONE (Kalen Ockerman) has been at the forefront of Los Angeles' graffiti and mural culture for nearly four decades. Born in Santa Cruz, California in 1971, he pioneered the Melrose graffiti art movement in the late 1980s and is considered LA's most prolific public muralist. He revolutionized street art by bridging graffiti culture with fine art, breaking free from traditional letter forms to develop complex, large-scale narratives that blend technical mastery with metaphysical storytelling.
MEAR ONE discovered Bitcoin as the economic counterpart to his artistic philosophy—a tool for creative sovereignty against fiat control. As he wrote in Bitcoin Magazine, Bitcoin represents "the radical dissociation from ideas that have become obsolete," offering artists an alternative economy based on non-confiscatable sound money principles. He has been a fixture at Bitcoin Conference art galleries since 2021.
BMAG staff will give private tours by appointment only, starting January 21, 2026.
