Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

museum.b.tc is operated by BMAG, the Bitcoin Museum & Art Gallery, a subsidiary of BTC Inc. This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, how we use it, and the third parties involved.

Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide, including your name and email address when you submit a contact or inquiry form, join our mailing list, book an event or gallery visit, or apply as a sponsor or vendor. Where a booking involves payment, billing details are entered directly with our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number.

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability purposes.

Cookies & Browser Storage

We do not use advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking cookies. We measure aggregate traffic with Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it records anonymous page views without storing IP addresses or building a profile of you, and cannot follow you to other websites. Because we set no tracking cookies, no consent banner is required to browse museum.b.tc.

We use only the following, all strictly functional:

  • Essential cookies — set only when a staff member signs in to the admin area, or when a visitor unlocks a password-protected page. They keep that session active and are not used for anyone simply browsing the site.
  • Local & session storage — your browser remembers preferences you choose yourself: light or dark theme, accessibility settings (text size, contrast, reduced motion, dyslexia-friendly font), collection grid or list view, the contents of a booking cart, and whether you've dismissed a notice. This data stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

You can clear any of this at any time through your browser settings. Doing so simply resets those preferences to their defaults.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiries, fulfil bookings and sponsorships, send occasional updates about BMAG exhibitions and events (only if you've opted in), and improve our website experience. We will never sell your personal information to third parties.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of providers to operate this site. Each has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them:

  • BTC Inc and the BTC+ App — our parent company. Links to b.tc and to the BTC+ App take you to services operated by BTC Inc under their own privacy policy and terms. Downloading the app is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we receive no information about your download, and any account you create in the app is governed by BTC Inc's policy, not this one.
  • BMAG Auction (shop.museum.b.tc) — our auction platform operates separately under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Payments — Stripe processes checkout for bookings, sponsorships, and vendor tables.
  • Hosting, data & analytics — Vercel hosts this site and provides the cookieless traffic analytics described above; Supabase stores our collection, exhibition, and enquiry data.
  • Email — Mailgun delivers our transactional messages and mailing list.
  • Live Bitcoin network data — the network stats in our footer are fetched by your browser directly from mempool.space, which means that service receives your IP address. Nothing identifying you is sent with the request.
  • Events & scheduling — Luma handles event RSVPs and Calendly handles meeting bookings, on their own sites.

Your Choices

You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time using the link in any email we send. To ask what personal information we hold about you, or to request that we correct or delete it, contact us at the address below and we'll action it.

Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the museum's services change. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
