BMAG presented Rupture at NFT.NYC — the first public showing of Remains, a body of work that makes time and collector choice materially present in painting.
Remains is the first series in which a painting and a Bitcoin Ordinal are structurally bound into a single object. To preserve one form, the collector must destroy the other.
The Ordinal is programmed to decay, starting at the 2028 halving, losing one pixel per block mined. The only way to halt the decay of the digital component is sealed beneath the surface of the physical painting: a unique code, retrievable only by destroying a meaningful portion of the work.
Rupture (b. 1993, Switzerland; based in Mexico City) is a self-taught artist working between physical and digital mediums, and the creator of one of the most widely collected artist-made Ordinals series on Bitcoin. Exhibited internationally since 2016, including at Musée Halle Saint-Pierre (Paris) and the 2nd Triennial of Self-Taught Visionary Art (Belgrade); a nominee for the Prix Suisse d'Art Brut.
The show ran Sep 2–8, 2026 at 46 Hester St on the Lower East Side, open daily through NFT.NYC week. Works found collectors during the run and the auction for The Remains of Us closed on the final evening. Remaining works are available through BMAG.
