Rupture's Remains series binds each painting to a Bitcoin Ordinal that decays one pixel per block from the April 2028 halving — preserving one form requires destroying the other. A first presentation of the series, in collaboration with BMAG at NFT.NYC.
BMAG presents Rupture at NFT.NYC — a first look at Remains, a body of work that makes time and collector choice materially present in painting.
Each work binds a physical painting to a Bitcoin Ordinal of exactly 210,000 pixels — the number of blocks mined in a halving epoch. Beginning at the April 2028 halving, the inscription decays one pixel for every block the network mines. The only way to halt it is a unique code sealed beneath the paint, retrievable only by destroying a meaningful portion of the painting and inscribing it as a child of the Ordinal. To preserve one form, the collector must sacrifice the other — and the blockchain records the decision permanently.
Rupture (b. 1993, Switzerland; based in Mexico City) is a self-taught artist working between physical and digital mediums, and the creator of one of the most widely collected artist-made Ordinals series on Bitcoin. Exhibited internationally since 2016, including at Musée Halle Saint-Pierre (Paris) and the 2nd Triennial of Self-Taught Visionary Art (Belgrade); a nominee for the Prix Suisse d'Art Brut.
