PEPERNICA

Luis Simo’s PEPERNICA is a monumental, 25-foot oil and enamel work that translates Picasso’s Guernica for the age of sovereign digital assets. Spanning 21 wood panels, the mural replaces the original’s symbols of war with the resilient icons of "Crypto Twitter," most notably the ubiquitous Pepe the Frog. Simo, a Spanish artist himself, created the piece to capture the volatility and emotional weight of the 2022 market crash, turning the "Rare Pepe" into a focal point of cultural struggle and digital triumph.
On the right corner, the artist included a "SMOWL" character—a tribute to the influential Pepe artist Darkfarms. Tied directly to a Counterparty asset, the painting bridges the gap between traditional fine art and the history of Bitcoin’s earliest NFT protocols. It stands as a physical monument to the "meme wars," proving that the most important cultural narratives of the Bitcoin revolution are being told through the very symbols the legacy world continues to overlook.
Due to the immense scale of this mural, it is being stored safely in crate between exhibitions.
