About This Work

Tommy Marcheschi’s RUNNING is a powerful tribute to one of Bitcoin’s most important figures: Hal Finney. The painting captures Hal during one of his favorite pastimes, reflecting the grit and endurance he maintained even as he became the first person to ever "run" Bitcoin alongside Satoshi Nakamoto. For the Bitcoin community, the title is a double entendre—it honors Hal the marathon runner and Hal the pioneer who kept the network alive in its most fragile early days. The work is a permanent fixture in our Nashville collection, serving as a humanizing look at the legends who built our sovereign future. By placing a figure of such historical weight in a casual, everyday setting, Tommy reminds us that the revolution wasn't just built by lines of code, but by real people with incredible spirit.
